Selected projects

While landscape:evolution is a new company it is founded on exacting standards and backed by teams of professional landscapers with many years experience.

Below is a small selection of work currently in progress.

Alma Terrace

The brief for this garden was to create a more private space, safe for children to play away from the main road. The fence was replaced and extended to enclose fully the garden. A new stable door was fitted in the porch to allow the owners direct access to the new garden without having to walk on the public right of way to the side.

A gently curving path constructed with hardwood sleepers in-filled with gravel runs through the garden, stepping down to the existing patio and stepping up again as it flows by the new lawn to the end of the garden. A new garden gate was fitted to allow access to the external bin storage area (the cottage is used as a holiday home so the bins will be collected without having to 'put the bins out') and beyond this garden gate is the private parking area. The planting will be laid out in the spring 2008 and will be mostly grasses.

Bury St Edmunds

This garden near Bury St Edmunds has been designed to allow the owner to 'flow' through the space, stopping and sitting at many points along the way. It moves from a formal feel near the house to the more rural setting away from the property.

A raised herb bed greets the visitor and invites exploration along the self binding gravel paths, with granite sett detailing. A central raised bed will have feature plants including grasses and sedges giving additional height and interest in the centre of the garden. From here one can walk to the vegetable garden either through the pergola and raised entertaining area or more directly via the top path and through the tapestry hedge into the raised and easily managed vegetable beds beyond. The existing pigsty in the corner will be used as a composting area and store.

Seashells

The garden at this Norfolk coast holiday cottage was tired, unloved and in need of replacement but with a very limited budget the design focused on shape, rather than the over-use of hardlandscaping.

A new decked area was laid to make best use of the French doors and the south facing aspect. The lawn was fed and regenerated and the shapes cut out to create an interesting but simple design that widened visually the space. The planting of three ornamental trees accentuate the curves and add additional height to garden and the new planting is designed to establish quickly to allow for a low maintenance regime, given the properties holiday use.

Trumpington

This garden was in desperate need of a redesign – the plants were almost all 'spikey' and gave an unwelcome feel to the space. The client brief was to provide an outdoor space that could be used for all year entertaining.

The hardwood decking was designed to make best use of the French doors to both the sitting room and the kitchen and one can step straight from the house onto the deck. The curve of the deck draws the eye towards not just the existing cherry tree but also the path that leads to the circular patio. This patio catches the late afternoon sun and will be surrounded by plantings of bamboo to further enclose the space. A pool nearer the house will be home to an acrylic sphere water feature that will be uplit to glow at night. Similarly, lighting will be used throughout the garden to allow evening use.
